Thanks squisher.
So, my entry in the Dark city category is gonna fly...YAY!
It is most definitely a technical failure though, the r-speeds are ridiculous. I'll feel all "wrong" releasing something as irresponsible but that'll have it's own satisfyingly wicked reward.
That is two for sure with a third being very likely. It's looking to be base/canyon-ish, but we'll see. I'ma keep the pics to myself until submission time though.

margaal, did you have a look at KMQuake2? kmq2.quakedev.com/It raises the limits Q2 puts on maps. Much more is possible there. Unfortunately this breaks backwards compatilibity with other quake2 engines

Well I think EGL looks nicer (more bright). But did you use the same configs for both engines? Maybe you just got different brightness settings? So you know about KM quake. You should get no problem in it with your huge maps?

[...] Statue support... [...] Never heard of it. What is it?

Map model support I guess (md2/md3).

Map model support I guess (md2/md3). According to this page EGL got support for md3 and shaders. Shouldn't statues be possible with that?

Sure but it is useless since only people running that engine will see it.
I dunno what happens when you use such a map with another engine. I guess one of these 2 things will happen: other engines either simply ignores all the models (if they are just torches this may make your map look strange but won't hurt, if you made larger stuff or even stuff that's important for gameplay it's pretty bad) or they crash (epic fail).

I am not going to make it. The end of 2010 has been the craziest time.. Everything in fastforward and lots of real life things to deal with. I have started two maps, they will both be finished, but not in time to make the deadline. I will keep you updated. I am not going inactive or anything, I just haven't had the time to work on my Quake 2 stuff!

Sad to hear this, maybe Laura can push back the deadline as we don't have that many mappers signed up anyway? -W1

Extending the deadline is fine with me, just don't expect me to change anything about the maps I submitted. Thesis => No time.
@margaal: If the deadline is extended it is extended for everybody I guess, so you can change your maps and submit updated versions.
