Ok, after some drawing and a few hours in NetRadiant, my layout for the contest map is done. What about this board, are we allowed or even asked to post screenshots of the contest map here? Or even alpha/beta versions for public testing? The name implies it but you never know. Or do the usual rules from the Quake 2 Café ( "Don't publish anything before the contest is over") apply?

Yes to all.

Here's a very early screenshot of a room from my current layout then: Texturing is just a placeholder & no lighting has been done so far (unless you wanna count the sunlight key in worldspawn). Everything else may also change of course, hehe.

Very cool! I like being able to pimp some pictures and get feedback. That's a horrible start Spirit, you should delete all of it and just make a box map instead I'll have a pic up soon...maybe.

margaal screen capture! Sorry. I should not post all the screenshots. It was my fault. A misunderstanding, my bad English.

margaal screen captures! I like them all but this one has that "Yes!" quality to it. The chains are a very cool touch, they look so real. I'ma' have to steal them (the idea and look) ;D for an after the contest, "other" project.

Hmmm....stealing...hehe..... idea,s thats what is about in making maps.... Chains yep..they look real, like them to......but be aware...got compile Errors al the time..%$.. ....1 chain is build form 8xpoly cube by 2x2... I Can not added any more ammo or poly in the map, iff i remove 1 chain i can added 3 little cubes more in the map.........pfffff lucky me the map is ready... Have you tried grouping the chain "sets" and making them func_wal brushes? Or even try making all of the chain brushes "detail" brushes. Or stretch/scale the textures on the chain surfaces to twice or three time their original settings ie: a 32x32 texture at 300%. Or as a last resort, use Arghrad with lighting set at a -chop 96 or 128, this kind-of-sort-of gives you more leeway with your lighting surface patches...or baring that, get in touch with Paril...he is pretty genius with workarounds, code and fixes.
