It's possible to add AQ2 visual effects to Quake 2 DM? For example I saw a cool "mist effect" in AQ2 and also other effects like reflections in the water. If you have the mod AQ2 test: ground3.bsp for fog effect www.lahtela.com/aq2suomi/maps/ground3.zipcountry.bsp for water effects www.lahtela.com/aq2suomi/maps/country.zip¿Someone know's if is possible to add this functions to Quake 2 DM and how to do it? ;D Regards!

If the engine had to be modded to create AQ2, then no, fog effects can't be used (at least, not volumetric fog...similar to Q3A). If you have seen some of my maps, I use a pseudo-fog effect around lights, but once you are standing inside the brush with the fog texture applied, you can't see the fog...it's only visible from the outside.

A little digging shows that AQ2 has it's own executable file, so it's likely that it is modded. The cvar/command and what these do are as follows: gl_fog 0 | 1 Enables fog effect. gl_fog_density 0 .. Controls fog density. You can read more about it here! github.com/hifi/aprq2/blob/master/aprq2_readme.txt

I mean if it works maybe can be made in other way? Like with a bot calling the effect? Im just guessing I repeat I dont understand.. Thank u.

I remember Leray's map 32.. 5-6 years ago, where there seemed to be some kind of mist/fog floating on fluids: -W1

Looks like a brush with a texture that has WARP but not WATER/ACID/LAVA or whatever the flags are called applied to it. But hard to tell just from a screenshot. This is similar to the fog in q3a that is not a global flag in WORLDSPAWN but bound to a brush.

I play AQ2 and have both Ground3 and Country. None of them feature anything special like that. It's most likely something from your Q2 client, where you have enabled fog and caustic effects.

This is similar to the fog in q3a that is not a global flag in WORLDSPAWN but bound to a brush. It is! It's a common water texture with warp and trans33 or trans66 checked off. You can apply different flags to the same texture. I used that effect (without the transparencies) in my map with the water coming out of the cobra's mouth. You can see the brush is a solid rectangular shape, but the warping effect gives it more of a feeling of actual water rushing out of the mouth and cascading into the pool.
