Cool!
You'll get mine soon. Two are complete, one is in the oven even as I type. It went through a 48+ hour vis compile only to come to abrupt halt when our power failed in an ice storm a few nights back. Assuming that doesn't happen again before the deadline...

m and margaal: 48 and 12h of VIS compile time?! My map took 4 secs. What the hell have you done? My map would have taken 48h to calculate VIS if I had done it myself using pen & paper I guess...

What have I done ;D - Big-huge open spaces. - Far too many polys. - Too many dihedrals. - Horrible-wicked-evil-poor vis blocking (read none). - A total lack of attention paid to proper consideration of the Q2 engine limits. That's just for starters I've had maps go for 125+ hours.

Once I have all the maps I will make a post. Remeber the players will vote too. Also, the poll should be on Quake 2 Caffe with the links to each map.

The deadline could be somewhat elastic

What have I done ;D That's just for starters Yep..me LOL... Is true beginner make a very big open space map, everything in 1 cube ( no leak )...hehe this take so very long time to compile...waiting and waiting 4/6 hours and when compile is done there is noting to do in this map.....hahaha..... we all started this way......I've had maps go for 125+ hours. That is so extreme....but also on a old PC is double time.. Dual core much faster....but 60 hours still not normale, my longest was 2 days, it appeared that he was broken..pFfff..
Those were the old days, ( 7 weeks ago LOL ).. Now I know how to mapping, ( i hope?..yeah i do my best, have much to learn).
W1 release my new map today M11 on Q2 Cafe'.leray.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=newq2maps&action=display&thread=2995&page=1Here is lot,s of snow..brrrr..
Send my 3 maps to Spawngirl & install Q3 today... Got new idea for a map for Q2 new contest ...LOL LOL i am so sick ..In reverse order... That poor dog looks very unhappy. That's how I respond to every flake of frozen precipitation that falls. I HATE WINTER, BAH HUMBUG! My PC is a bit of a dinosaur, Athlon 64 x2 Dual, 3800+ with only 2 gig ram. But it runs as smooth as butter, does all I ask from it, has that sweet-sweeeeeet XP and doesn't gimme a lick of trouble. Now, about the dual core dealio, there seems to be no difference in performance or speed of the vis or lit processes when I use both cores. It simply bogs down every other thing I try to do, so I always set the affinity for vis and arghrad to one core or the other. The only difference I see is use of the available ram. Am I missing something important here? My geek knowledge is sorely lacking these days, I've gone from 'puter-nerd to home(read camp) improvement do-it-all-myself manly-guy. /me scratches the bum, pulls on the camo hat and heads out to finish a roof, change the hydraulics on the tractor and re-plumb the four showers, six sinks, six toilets, sewage lines and fresh water feeds in two of the old cabins. I may even shoot a whistle-pig or two if I see 'em since I got a cool new "pew-pew-pew" with my Christmas swag. Life as a redneck is second to none. Anyone one wanna see a pic of the new pea shooter?

hehe... Noo hi like it very much... wrong moment picture... Me also...Athlon 64 x2 Dual, 3000 & 7950 GT...runs still all new gamez perfect, its little bit old but heeh me too...LOL.... .....Xp shit on the machine Yep... everything works fine after new install each 7 months. assembling the pc parts myself.... is cheaper. speed of the vis, hmm with my Dark city use both cpu,s couple time,s its faster 4 hours less, i rebuild the map maybe that was the trick, vis eat all the cpu power... ahh its not so important did compile at night 1 cpu when go to bed... Brrr cold outside...all the snow is beautifull iff you stay inside... hydraulics tractor and re-plumb the four showers, six sinks, six toilets.. ..you have much space at you place, you must be a handyman and a young handyman 21 ( profile )..full of energy... ... Pictures alway,s good. Well, map three is finished, it took 60 hours but was worth it. The r's were cut in half in the worst sections. I'm going to fix a few little details in the other two and recompile them. So that means all three should be ready to ship out tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest. I must have ignored some of the details my profile. So 21? Nah, I'm getting to be an old fart... I have less hair, more gray (or white) and the pounds are getting harder to shed, I break a lot easier now. Any of you young wipper-snappers wanna trade ages? And these would be our snow-girls.
